A tale of trust….
Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. Father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter,
âSweetheart, please hold my hand so that you donât fall into the river.â
The little girl said, âNo, Dad. You hold my hand.â
âWhatâs the difference?â Asked the puzzled father.
âThereâs a big difference,â replied the little girl.
âIf I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go.â
What a great image-holding hands and not letting go. This works in business, family and friendship and makes or breaks any relationship.
The more we trust and are trusted the stronger and more enriched our life and business will be. We feel more peaceful, make better decisions, and are open to richer experiences. A business based on trust will not have to worry about disgruntled clients!
I struggle with trust in some areas of my life. My openness and belief have been betrayed.
How about you? I think the more years we have lived the more chances for having trust broken but also the more chance for deeper connections with others. It is not always easy but here is how I increase the this in my life.
Tell the Truth with courage and heart.
Remember that the bond is strongest when it is consistent.
Understand that there are different perspectives.
Sincerely mean what you say.
Treat your commitment with respect.
It can take time to build trust. But it really is worth it. I hope you have some hands to hold you tight this week. If you need a new one, I like holding hands!
